Zentangle: Beyond the Basics

If you have some experience “tangling,” join Marian Morrill, CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) for an introduction to Renaissance tiles where we will work on four new patterns (tangles).  We'll move beyond working with black pen on white paper and will now work on light brown tiles (3.5 x 3.5 paper) with black and brown pens as well as white and black pencils.  The sketches of the great Renaissance artists are the inspiration for this method of drawing tangles in black, brown, and white.

Lavender Ribbon Wand Workshop

Lavender Ribbon Wand Workshop

A lavender ribbon wand is a gorgeous, traditional handicraft originating in Provence, France. Known as ‘Fuseaux de Lavande’ in France, they are a lovely way to capture and preserve the scent of lavender. They are made by weaving lavender stems and ribbon into a ‘cage’ that holds the fragile lavender buds.

Lavender wands are traditionally placed in linen cupboards and drawers to repel moths and keep clothes sweet-smelling. They were part of a bride’s trousseau. They are also a delightful house present!

Animation and Comic Arts Gathering

Animation and Comic Arts Gathering

The umbrella fields of animation and comics have a lot of diverse roles and skill sets underneath it. Whether the field of interest is in character design, story boarding, environmental / background design, multiple, all, or more, there’s a lot that can be learned.

Lacking learning resources and a cohesive community, the idea behind this gathering is for helping each other learn by pooling our collective knowledge, providing other artistic perspectives, and overall form connections with those in our subsection of artistic interest.

The goals of this gathering are:

To foster and grow the artistic community for those interested in the entertainment storytelling fields of animation and comics

To provide a space for collaborative community learning

To shine a spotlight on and promote local storytelling artists

No sign up necessary, just show up with your supplies (ipad, sketchbooks, markers, pencils…)!
