Adriana Goodman

Adriana Goodman is 16 and a sophomore in high school at Western Albemarle. She has been sewing for nearly 12 years. She loves to make stuffed animals that can be loved for years and be friends to those in need of some. She is a firm believer that these plush friends are for people of all ages and you are never too old for a cute bat with an obnoxiously large wing-span. Adriana loves to sew and create so much that her bank account often cries at the amount of money spent on fabric. She hopes that the creatures she makes find a home and people ready to snuggle them.

Amaris Arnette

My name is Amaris and I am a 27-year-old disabled artist living in Charlottesville, Virginia. I’m currently balancing college life, creating art, and being a pet parent to a mini goldendoodle named Beau and a small pride of cats. I’ve always loved all things creative, but I fell head over heels for resin art a few years ago. I work with UV resin, carefully pouring, curing, painting, sealing, and crafting each piece by hand. Selling my art allows me to support myself while working within the limits of my health, and it’s been the perfect outlet for my energy and creativity. My brand, The Bugglet Bazaar, was inspired by the idea of a whimsical fae market - where you might stumble upon tiny trinkets sold by mischievous bug fairies. I hope my creations bring you a touch of that same magic!

Andi Pollard

I am a crochet artist that loves every aspect of the craft.  If you own a crocheted item, know that it is extra special because crochet is one of the few fiber arts that cannot be replicated by a machine.  It is truly a genuine handmade item.  I have 3 lovely alpacas that also contribute to my crafting.  Yarn has been made from their fiber and I have also used their fiber as stuffing. I am thrilled to have my items at The Scrappy Elephant, especially since they are so openly LGBTQ+ friendly.  My son performs as a drag queen named Nutmegan in Chicago.  I support him and his community with my whole heart.

Bethany Pritchard

Bethany Pritchard is a glass bead artist based in Ruckersville, Virginia. All the glass beads featured in her jewelry collection at The Scrappy Elephant are made entirely from donated glass, which Bethany purchased from Scrappy. Over the years, Bethany has explored a wide range of artistic and creative mediums including paper, resin, clay, mosaic, metal, and all sorts of different beading and jewelry making techniques. Her passion for glass as a medium began in 2005 after taking a series of lampworking classes. However, it was only recently that she set up a studio space with proper ventilation and safety precautions, allowing her to fully focus on glass bead making.

Grace Dawson

Gold Leaf Paper is a sustainably run, local, one-person operation. The artist, Charlottesville native Grace Dawson, is passionate about using their art practice to support connection and community. In a time of ubiquitous technology, instant-gratification, and constant communication that leaves us feeling hollow and disconnected, they create art that is thoughtful, handmade, tactile, and facilitates deep meaningful connection. They’ve been an avid letter-writer since childhood, and their love of exchanging letters and cards evolved into this handmade stationery business. Their paper is made from 100% recycled material, and their cards are ornamented with original linocut block prints. From stationery, Grace eventually branched out into book-binding with their paper, and they now create both large and small hand-bound journals. They also craft beautiful one-of-a-kind lanterns from their handmade paper as well as offering custom card designs and other unique paper creations on commission.

Katie Crafaik

I’m a full-time therapist in Charlottesville, VA, and creating pottery is one way that I make time for myself in the midst of my rewarding and healing work with others. Getting my hands dirty with clay or creating something joyful with a colorful glaze is incredibly grounding and healing in itself. My pottery is inspired by nature, which I have loved from a very early age. My mother, a wildlife biologist and artist herself, helped me to develop a respect and understanding of the natural world, and I’ve tried to embody that in my pieces. From a whimsical snake on a vase, a moonrise over the mountains on a mug, or flowers and herbs pressed into a plate - it is all a loving ode to Mother Earth.

Owen Guiffre

Owen Guiffre is a mixed media artist who grew up in Charlottesville. I've loved creating weird creatures for as long as I could remember. Now, I enjoy making animals and monsters in a range of mediums including: needle felting, sewing, drawing. In my free time I love making soups and stews, throwing a bunch of ingredients into one big pot and having it all work to make something new. I like to think of making art as being a lot like cooking a pot of soup.
