Bunny Keepsake

Bunny Keepsake

Join Ari (they/them) to make a sweet bunny keepsake out of recycled felted wool, just in time for spring! This is a combination hand sewing and needle felting class. We will trace patterns and cut out fabric, then decorate the bunnies using applique, beads, buttons, and needle felting. While the focus of instruction won’t be on embroidery, if you already know how you can use those skills here too.

After decorating, we will sew and stuff the bunnies. They can stand upright and are around 10 inches tall. There’s a good chance you will be able to finish them in class, but if not, you’ll go home with everything you need to complete them.

Do you have a wool garment that you shrunk in the wash? Please bring it along to use yourself or to share with the class. Turn oops into art! If you don’t have anything to bring, that’s fine too- Ari can provide fabric.

Beginning and intermediate hand sewers and needle felters are welcome.

Beginner Embroidery- Stitching on Patterned Fabric

Beginner Embroidery- Stitching on Patterned Fabric

Join instructor Ari (they/them) to learn the basics of embroidery materials and techniques while beginning a fun and flexible project. We’ll cover satin stitch, running stitch, and backstitch- possibly more depending on interest- and you’ll use your new skills to embellish a piece of printed fabric with your own stitches. - We’ll use 4 inch hoops, embroidery floss in a myriad of colors, and a choice of printed fabrics from the instructor’s stash. If you’d rather bring your own non-stretchy fabric (quilting cottons are great!) with a pattern that fits within a 4 inch circle, you are welcome to do so! Projects can be finished as a piece of hangable art using the hoop as a frame, or removed if you’d like to sew them onto something else. - Depending on the complexity of the design you choose, it is likely you will not complete the entire project in class. You’ll go home with the skills to continue embroidering on your own.
