Art is Resistance. Community is Resistance. Joy is Resistance.
I found this little graphic this morning and this right here is everything we are trying to do here at Scrappy Elephant. I know many people are upset we are trying to get off social media. But one of our founding values is Community. I know that community can and does exist online, but everything I am hearing and reading at this moment in time is that now, more than ever, we need in person community. We need to physically be around each other on a regular basis, sharing our stories, our ideas, our stubborn optimism.
In addition to gathering with your friends in the studio, or coming out and shopping with your friends, or taking classes, we are also offering several free community/art events. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we have Lunchtime Library Hour- bring whatever project you want to work on and gather in our library to make art and relax. On Tuesdays we have Drop-In Still Life Drawing and Watercolor Sessions. Once a month we have our Cville Craftivism Collectivism meetings. Once a month we have our Makers and Givers Sessions. We invite you to any and all of these invites.
Today, we have all sorts of fun here for you today- from Prismacolor markers, to brushes, to notebooks, to quilling sets, to oh SO much more! Open from 9-6 for all things creative reuse.
